Survey for the Canal Road/Highway 180 reroute

The council took up a proposal from Sawgrass Consulting, not to exceed $39,500, for a boundary survey and subdivision plat of right-of-way for the reroute. The agenda summary cites Resolution 7158 (July 13, 2026) and 30.19 acres from Gulf State Park.

Fire training complex opens on West 36th Avenue

Gulf Shores Fire Rescue opened a $1.8 million training complex at 19600 W. 36th Ave., with a four-story training tower, a burn building and a trench box. Much of the work was done in-house, Chief Mark Sealy said (OBA).

Kids Park rebuild approved; construction moves to early 2027

The council approved the Leathers and Associates redesign of the 1996 playground. The city puts the total at $1.1 million, including $150,000 for surfacing, and moved construction to early 2027 so families can use the current park through Christmas break.

$1.5 million GoMESA grant for a shooting complex clubhouse; Boggy Point launch rebuild

Orange Beach will get $1.5 million for a clubhouse at the Orange Beach Shooting Complex, and the state awarded $2.95 million for a rebuild of the Boggy Point Boat Launch, the city said.

The county Solid Waste Disposal Authority's CHaRM is at 22510 Russian Road, off the Baldwin Beach Express. Hours: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays and 7 a.m. to noon Saturdays.
