Trash, recycling and utilities

Gulf Shores trash and recycling

  • Republic Services collects residential garbage for the city: once a week (Monday or Thursday) north of 2nd Avenue, twice a week (Mondays and Thursdays) on and south of 2nd Avenue, the beach rental district.
  • The city runs weekly residential debris pickup for yard debris, cardboard boxes, old furniture and appliances.
  • Republic Services: 888-425-7667. City utilities: 251-968-6323.
  • During Isaias: the city asked residents to pause all trash and debris placement until after the storm.

Orange Beach trash and recycling

  • Garbage pickup is twice weekly, Tuesdays and Fridays. The residential charge is $16.25 a month on the sewer bill.
  • Recycling is every other Wednesday, alternating Zone 1 (gray) and Zone 2 (blue); the city's zone map and calendar show your week.
  • Public recycling dumpsters (plastics, cardboard, aluminum cans) are on Sweetwater Drive next to Orange Beach Middle/High School. A glass bin is at the Cotton Bayou Trailhead, 3241 Orange Beach Blvd.
  • Finance Department for service and problems: 251-981-6096.

Hard-to-recycle drop-off (CHaRM)

  • 22510 Russian Road, off the Baldwin Beach Express behind Baldwin EMC and Orange Beach Public Works.
  • Monday-Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday 7 a.m. to noon.

  • For an emergency, call 911.
  • Baldwin Health's freestanding emergency department: 3590 Gulf Shores Parkway, Gulf Shores. Open 24/7 with lab and imaging.
