County's largest hard-to-recycle drop-off center opens in Orange Beach
The CHaRM takes glass, electronics, batteries, paint and household hazardous waste.
The Solid Waste Disposal Authority of Baldwin County opened its third and largest Center for Hard-to-Recycle Materials at 22510 Russian Road, off the Baldwin Beach Express behind Baldwin EMC and Orange Beach Public Works. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays and 7 a.m. to noon Saturdays.
Common recyclables, small batteries, light bulbs and glass are free to drop off. Paint and household hazardous waste cost $2 a gallon, car batteries $2 each, propane tanks $4 and electronics $5 a unit. Tires, mattresses, furniture, appliances and construction debris are not accepted.
